Gwendolyn and the Seeds of Destiny is a fantasy by Roy Sakelson. Princess Gwendolyn lives in the beautiful kingdom of Valmar, with creatures possessing magical powers. But Valmar was conquered by Skoll, a Sorcerer who restricts them. Skoll plans to return to destroy everyone, including the giants with the help of despised trolls. King Argus, Gwendolyn’s father fears violence and refuses to unite with the giants and fight. When a dragon named Destiny attacks the castle, searching for her missing seed, Gwendolyn learns she has inherited mystical powers belonging to the seed. She and her brother Aethelred find the seed, and learn their true power. She wonders if she can use the seed to defeat Skoll, but Destiny has other plans, and helping humans is not one of them. The dragon wants scorching revenge, and everyone in her path will become toast.
Gwendolyn and the Seeds of Destiny is the first book in the series by Roy Sakelson. I loved the exciting adventure that the author took me on through his terrific writing. There are many mythical creatures like the trolls, dragons and griphons in the story, and I was able to know more about them, and sympathised with a few. Roy Sakelson writes very creatively and his characters are nicely developed. Their descriptions are great, so you’ll like them, hate them and even smell a few. There’s never a dull moment in the story and I love its intrigue. This is a great fantasy book that preteens will enjoy.
