Regina Hart's latest romance novel, Harmony Cabins, will entice readers to keep turning the pages. We meet Audra, a music writer, and Jack, a divorced man who cannot get over the death of his daughter. Jack lives a hermit life in Trinity Falls, Ohio, where he has taken on a project of refurbishing run-down cabins at a small resort. Jack wants contact with no one and he considers Audra's visit intrusive and unwelcome. But, Audra is interested in the emotionally distant man and she has enough spunk to keep on trying until Jack begins to respond. Just when things progress smoothly, Audra's old boyfriend comes to town and stirs the pot. In between the romance story, we meet the delightful people of Trinity Falls, all of whom have their own stories to tell. There is the race for town mayor and the secrets involved in the history of one of the candidates in the race. There is the current mayor who wants to leave town and a mysterious backer of one of the candidates for mayor.
Even though the story is not a new one in the world of romance history, it is very well told and it occasionally grabs at the heart of the reader. I loved Jack's character as it was real and troubled so that his history was believable. Audra matured as the story progressed and readers will be delighted with her willingness to think outside of the LA box of lifestyles. Pick it up and sit back by the fire or take it to the beach. You'll love the human side of winning and losing in the world of romance.
