Heart of the Mountain: A Sweet and Clean Small Town Romance (Wild Hearts Series: Book 1) by Kay Wolfe is a lovely and charming romance. It is a disarming tale beautifully depicting the redeeming qualities of companionship and love. Chase's character is appealing and irresistible and his heartbreaking history gives his persona more substance and definition. Enhanced by an incredible backdrop that not only creates a dramatic setting but also life and death situations combined with the intrigue behind Chase's backstory, it is a spellbinding story. The drama builds to an exciting climax culminating in a satisfying and heartwarming conclusion. This enchanting novel will delight everyone who loves a touching and sweet romance.

A driven young lawyer, Laura begins to feel the pressure of her chosen lifestyle, and when current beau Craig announces that it’s just not working out, she reevaluates her immediate future. Upon a strong suggestion from a superior, Laura agrees to step back and escape to the country for a few weeks to work remotely, regroup, and gain some personal insight. Initially, her city comfort zone rebels against the isolation of the rustic mountain cabin she now calls home. But Laura is determined to take a chance. Although cautioned of various dangers of living in the Wyoming wilderness, Laura surprises herself when early mornings begin to suit her. Long walks in the woods become a highly anticipated habit. She settles into solitude. And then, it happens. Ignoring warnings about the potentially dangerous squatters who camp in the woods, Laura cast her worries aside and headed out on an early morning hike that resulted in a disastrous fall and a knight in shining armor rescue.

Heart of the Mountain, Wild Hearts Series – Book 1 by Kay Wolfe is a short novel of unexpected (the best kind) love and self-evaluation. Kay Wolfe doesn’t waste the reader’s time on redundant prose or unnecessary description. A sweet contemporary romance, Heart of the Mountain is the perfect read for a lazy afternoon on the beach or under your favorite tree. With the promise of more to come, this series is certain to be a hit with readers who need an uplifting story and a short read. A clean storyline and quietly erotic love scenes feed the imagination of the reader.

When Lara's boyfriend breaks up with her, nearly ruining her very important court case, and leaves her devastated, she takes her best friend's advice and takes a trip away from everything to clear her head, regroup, so she will be ready to go back to the law firm fighting for those difficult cases she always tries. The trip high in the Wyoming mountains just might work. But Lara is a city girl. The cabin is so far into the mountains that there is no one close by at this time of the year. How will she ever make it on her own? And especially with the wild mountain men she is warned about by a couple of people who live there.

The Heart of the Mountain: A Sweet and Clean Small Town Romance by Kay Wolfe is indeed in the heart of the wild mountains in Wyoming. Wolfe creates characters that will warm your heart yet surprise you. The descriptions of the mountains are very detailed. The details of the cabin Lara is staying in with the outstanding views are breathtaking and the trails throughout the mountain tell of the harsh but beautiful land. The cover of the book goes well with the descriptions in the book. But as Lara ventures out, she discovers just how hard and dangerous the mountain is, several times in fact, when one of the mountain men, Chase, comes to her rescue. I was surprised that Laura wasn't afraid of being on the mountain all alone, being the big city girl she is, but she is really happy there. So much so that she may not want to leave when the time comes, she is enjoying herself so much. The Heart of the Mountain is a short read and it goes by pretty fast. This is a nice read when you don't have the time for a full-length book.
