Her Secret Protector: Secrets of Cherry Lake, Book 4 is a sweet contemporary romance novel written by Roxanne Snopek. Carrie Logan went back home again to Cherry Lake, Montana, after her studies in San Francisco. Her conservative and overly strict parents had been adamantly opposed to their daughter going to college in such a liberal environment, so her return to Montana was a welcome one. Everything was about to change, however, when she received notification that her website had been compromised. While on the West Coast, Carrie had started a successful photography business specializing in boudoir pictures, and she had thought those images were securely protected on her site. Now that she is home again, Carrie’s been building up a photography business specializing in school, festival and family photography. If the existence of those boudoir pictures comes to light in Cherry Lake, the success of her business will be put in jeopardy, and, worse, she could lose the respect of her beloved grandfather.
Roxanne Snopek’s sweet contemporary romance, Her Secret Protector: Secrets of Cherry Lake, Book 4, is well-written and has an original and compelling plot. While this is the fourth book in Snopek’s Secrets of Cherry Lake series, I found that the author included enough background to enable me to enjoy this book as a stand-alone novel. Carrie Logan comes across as a competent and relatively independent character, especially considering her strict and overly sheltered upbringing, even if she’s not all that accomplished in website construction and security. I quickly felt an empathic connection with the beleaguered and stressed young woman. Ethan Nash, the cyber security specialist she consults with, is a perfect foil for her, and he comes equipped with a marvelous trio of Belgian Malinois shepherds, who, by themselves, could make Her Secret Protector a smashing success. Add those canine Casanovas to a plot filled with strong characters, romantic tension and small town nastiness, and you have the recipe for an unforgettable and entertaining read. Her Secret Protector: Secrets of Cherry Lake, Book 4 is highly recommended.
