Heroin is everywhere and we see lives and relationships being destroyed and ended. Written by a former heroin addict, Christopher J Spinney, Heroin Addiction: The Addiction Guide for the Amateur is a useful guide as the author speaks about the lifelong side effects caused to both the addict and the family due to this addiction. The author takes readers into the world of an addict and how they fare on all dimensions, physical, mental, and emotional, during that phase. The book gives courage, hope, and strength to addicts with proof that recovery is possible and achievable.

The book is well written. The author gives information to those who know nothing about addiction yet want to know more. Being a former addict, the author is able to speak about everything connected with heroin addiction, the world of an addict, and the recovery phase in detail. The book also throws insight on the difficulties the family of an addict goes through because of their bad thoughts and irrational behaviors. There are good tips and suggestions for those seeking recovery, and the book serves as a good guide for anyone seeking recovery from their addiction.

The author handles a relevant topic with a lot of compassion and restraint, opening the eyes of addicts and their families, yet giving addicts hope, determination and strength to get out of that self-destructive mode. The book will educate readers on the bad things that can happen when one succumbs to addiction and gives good information to addicts and their families.
