Dan Cannon is back in Lizzie Ashworth’s His to Lose. Dan is angry. Not only did he lose Bryn to his cousin Alex after their passionate threesome affair, but someone is stealing money from them. As Alex and Bryn are ready to start a family, Dan has to make sure that no one steals more money from them and to secure their future. The only way to find the culprit is by hiring a CPA. He hires Riley Montgomery to do the work so that he can stop blaming himself for this fiasco. But the little spitfire CPA is more than he ever bargained for.
Riley Montgomery really needs to do well with this job at Cannon Company. After the damage her ex-husband did to the business, she needs the money to keep it afloat. Dan is a distraction. She tries her best to keep her hands away from his delicious derriere, but her longtime friend is intrigued and wants to start something kinky with Dan. The two women have sworn off men, but Dan is too good to pass. Soon, Dan and Riley start having feelings for each other, but Dan is reluctant to follow his heart after the fiasco with his ex. It is up to Riley to take what she wants, or else he will get away.
I have to admit when I read that Lizzie Ashworth had a follow up for Hers to Choose, I did not anticipate enjoying it. His to Lose was a surprise. I really hated Dan after the way he acted in Hers to Choose, but it looks like he has some redeeming qualities. His and Riley’s chemistry is complex, but in a really good way. I really enjoyed it and what do you know? Dan actually has a soft side. And we get to know more about Alex and Bryn so that is a major plus in my books.
