Holy Smokes! That's exactly what I thought when I finished reading Hole in the Day: A Novel by debut author Steven A. Carr. This book is a roller coaster ride of an adventure, and will keep readers obsessively turning the pages from start to finish! Follow the story of two Vietnam veterans, desperately searching for a treasure of epic proportions hidden in the wilderness of Minnesota. The treasure, a fortune in US gold Liberty coins, has been missing since 1868, and rightfully belongs to an Ojibwa tribe, and many have tried to find it over the years. But of those who have tried, all have disappeared. Will the treasure finally be found and the mystery be solved, or will the seeming curse claim two more victims? You'll need to read the book to find out!
I loved Hole in the Day: A Novel. Loved. It. How's that for a review? Well, it's truly how I felt about author Steven A. Carr's great first work. The book is both exciting and full of mystery, and is definitely one that you won't be able to put down. Author Steven A. Carr has done an excellent job of creating characters that his readers will connect with, relate to, and continue to think about long after the final page is done. If that isn't a hallmark of a great author, I'm not sure what is. Any reader who enjoys mysteries, action-adventures, or just a great read of fiction in general, should absolutely grab Hole in the Day. I highly recommend this book, and I look forward to reading more from the very talented author, Steven A. Carr, as soon as he releases something new!
