Heidi is a romance author. Somehow, though, she’s lost her touch, especially when it comes to Christmas. On the advice of her agent, she sets out to spend the Christmas season alone in a Christmas setting; a small town called Hollyville. And, to top it off, she chooses to stay at a small bed and breakfast called Holly Cottage. She manages to secure a room and settles in for a Christmas full of writing and, of course, loneliness. You see, Holly is a bit of an introvert, cringing at public acclamation of her writing successes. She has memories to purge and a book to write. What she doesn’t expect to find at Holly Cottage is love – the kind she writes about.
Stephanie Hurt’s novel, Holly Cottage: Where the Magic Begins, is a tender love story set in the magical season of Christmas and in a very magical Christmas-oriented town. The characters are well developed and the plot moves steadily as the two main characters, Heidi and Eric, the owner of Holly Cottage, weave and manipulate their own magical course of events as they struggle with their pasts and fight against the growing attraction between them. And, when tragedy strikes, the bond that was developing between the two comes to a climax with only one possible resolution left. This is a simple enough romance, a comfortable read, but one that will melt the reader’s heart in the magic of the season. A good way to snuggle into the season of love and magic.
