In Holly’s Hero: Cascade Springs, TX Book 1, Dania Voss introduces readers to Holly Caldwell, a beautiful blonde who is generous and giving; unfortunately, she’s built a wall around her heart. After watching the disaster of her parents' marriage, she’s convinced that love is a road best avoided. Then she meets Evan. He’s an honorable military man, whose immediate attraction to her is undeniable. At first, she tries only to be friends with him, and they even become roommates, but that all comes to a head when he accompanies her to a night of fun where she works. When they get home, their physical sparks finally fly. Though he’s already in love, he reluctantly agrees when she suggests a friends-with-benefits arrangement. Will they 'fess up to their feelings and give in to the magnetic pull they’ve had all along?
I was instantly drawn to Holly’s Hero because it has a character in the military, and those are my favorite kind of stories. It promised romance—and more—and it delivered. The pace is wonderfully fast, making it the ideal choice for a delightful escape from the real world. While it is full of fluff, it doesn’t sacrifice genuine emotion. The chemistry between Holly and Evan is palpable, and such fun to read. Dania Voss has written a compelling romance that blends genuine emotion with lightheartedness, particularly in how Holly is reluctant to enter into a relationship due to her parents’ marriage, which I found somewhat relatable. It’s a wonderfully entertaining and satisfying read that leaves you with a warm feeling long after you've turned the final page.
