Michelle McKinney Hammond is a woman whose voice and Christian wisdom I have come to trust more and more with each book she writes. She is a great comfort to Christian women, and she is able to relate to her readers in a variety of life situations. Christians are certainly not strangers to disappointments; and in her new book, How to Get Past Disappointment, Michelle uses the story of the Samaritan woman at the well to teach how God allows us to be disappointed and how to move on past life’s disappointments. She teaches us how to examine our hearts in the face of disappointments and helps us use the story in John 4 to help us heal through Christ.
One of the things I like most about Michelle McKinney Hammond's books, this one in particular, is the practicality of her message. She presents information and Biblical wisdom in a readable and organized fashion that makes it easy to understand her points without getting lost in an overload of details. I always feel like she is speaking directly to me when I read her books, and this one certainly has that same comforting feeling that I have come to know in Michelle’s books. She never compromises on the promises of God, and she delivers a positive, uplifting message that readers can apply to their lives. At the end of each chapter she has included questions for reflection, which is something I always appreciate. It gives the book a more personal and interactive feel, and it brought me to a point of greater understanding.
Once again, Michelle McKinney Hammond has written a wonderfully practical and helpful book to help her readers heal and learn from all of life’s disappointments, both big and small.
