I Always Knew We Were Meant for You by Michelle Gillitzer is a heartfelt story following adoptive parents preparing for their adoptive children. Mama and Papa Bear prepare in every possible way to love their children, who are on their way and know that they are a gift from God. They wanted to give their children a special gift, showing that they are meant to be connected through love. Children will then feel seen and understand that they are worthy of love and belonging. Adults should remember that adopted children have challenges that they have to endure throughout the adoption process. They will have feelings of fear, hope, and hesitation about the adoption. The book’s message to adoptive children is that somewhere, a family is waiting with open arms for them, and that love will find its way home.
I Always Knew We Were Meant for You by Michelle Gillitzer is an emotional read. The writing style was engaging, and I felt part of the adoptive parents’ journey, waiting for their adoptive children. The gentle pacing allows readers to absorb every moment of the emotions the adoptive parents and children go through. Every page has themes of hope, love, and belonging. The illustrations are colourful and perfectly aligned with the text. These have a message of their own, showing the peace, love, and anticipation of the adoptive parents. The book was beautifully written with lessons about patience and trust. Children will understand what this book is about, while adults can also learn from it. This story inspires courage and celebrates the deep bonds that form a forever family.
