Emlynn knows a thing or two about guilt and death. She's never struggled against her gift of sensing the dead, until an accident kills her mother. Now her "gift" is taking over her life. When her father moves her to a remote Yorkshire house, Emlynn is thrust into the middle of a centuries-old curse. The curse feeds on young girls' lives. So when Emlynn's sister becomes involved with a local boy connected to the curse, Emlynn moves into action. Is Grace the next potential victim? Her family is heading toward another tragedy that Emlynn must find the power to stop. But this time she has to find the courage to talk to the dead in order to find the answers she needs to save her sister.
I Belong to the Earth by J.A. Ironside is a young adult paranormal that is part ghost story, part love story, part tale of possession, jealousy, and sibling rivalry. This dark and spooky tale is delightfully twisted and will keep readers up all night, but in the best of ways! Readers will love the fact that they can't put down this haunted tale. They won't want to stop reading about the ghosts, and Emlynn's talents, and the dark and creepy house the family moves into. The village is dark and scary and very well-written, as are all of the characters. I especially liked Grace's creepy boyfriend and his connection to the house and the curse.
