A girl expresses her love for her dad in the beautifully-crafted children’s book, I Love My Daddy: A Day With Daddy by Juanita Banks-Whittington. The story explores her relationship with her father and the activities they engage in throughout the day. After he wakes her up with hugs and kisses, they prepare breakfast together and, later, he helps her put on her boots before they go out into the garden. The story includes the games and new activities she learns from her father. It explores the dynamics of the family and focuses on the father’s role in his daughter’s everyday life. It also celebrates diversity, familial love, and family unity. It includes suggestions regarding games and activities parents can enjoy with their children to strengthen their relationship.
I Love My Daddy is a wonderful portrait of fatherhood and the strong bond between a girl and her father. It is a powerful read for any family and will enhance young readers’ vocabulary. It will also help parents build their relationships with their children. I loved the story’s focus on diversity and familial relationships. Children of all ages and their parents will enjoy the activities depicted in the story. I appreciated that the language and activities included are accessible to the book’s target audience. I found the illustrations vivid and engaging. They enliven the story and adeptly portray the characters. A lovely depiction of a father’s love, I Love My Daddy by Juanita Banks-Whittington is a delightful story with relevant scenes and essential themes. Highly recommended.
