Inescapable by Natalie G. Owens and Zee Monodee was a really interesting endeavor. There was a WHOLE lot going on. The book is the first in a new paranormal series about a mother and daughter and their struggles through the centuries. Yes, centuries. Adri is an immortal descended from the Greek gods, and Seraphina, Sera for short, is a gypsy-phoenix hybrid who was left on Adri's doorstep. She should have passed away decades ago, but when she was 24, Sera encountered the deadly and darkly handsome vampire Rafe Harcourt who stole her mortality and nearly her life. When Adri found Sera, she was almost gone, but by giving her immortal blood, Sera is now a curious mixture of vampire and other...one that Rafe still can come to possess if he so chooses.

I really enjoyed the mother and daughter dynamics between the two women. It's not often that you get two related, multi-generational characters that both have depth, history, etc. I like to see that there are some mom-daughter teams that have personality and aren't one-sided. I also thought the varying mythologies aspect was cool. There's some ancient Greek, some gypsy culture, some mysticism, and then there's the Vampire counsel and its soul-stealing mist monsters. Inescapable was a definite playground for the imagination and the story was fun as well. It had drama, action, romance, adventure...really everything that the paranormal fan would need to get their jollies. Natalie and Zee did an excellent job with this one!
