In Isabella Babysits Baxter, part of The Wunderkind Family Children’s Book Collection by Melissa Perry Moraja, little Isabella gets a big girl job when her mom asks her to babysit their dog Baxter after he gets into trouble by making a mess while her mom is trying to work. Isabella is usually the one who has a babysitter, but she’s not worried; she knows exactly what to do. From getting Baxter dressed to feeding him to painting a picture to taking a bath, Isabella and Baxter have one fun adventure, but can she stop him from making more of a mess and getting into even more trouble?
This is a simple, cute story based on the author’s daughter, Isabella, and their dog Baxter. Young children will enjoy seeing and reading about Isabella taking on the responsibility of babysitting the family dog. A lot of families have some kind of pet so kids will be able to relate to the idea of taking care of one. Not only will they learn responsibility and enjoy a young girl’s adventure with her adorable dog, but readers will also adore the colorful illustrations. Filled with humor and fun, Isabella Babysits Baxter is perfect for young children, and I especially recommend it for families with pets. Melissa Perry Moraja does a great job of bringing these real-life characters to print in a new, entertaining children’s book that is sure to please the whole family. My toddler is already a fan, so we will definitely be keeping our eyes on this new author.
