In We Know You Know by David W. Tilley, Professor Titus Frost’s life was turned upside down on an October morning in 1975. Titus was standing in front of the burned remains of his home in North Georgia. The fire destroyed everything Titus and his wife, Kate, had built together. This was more than arson, as a homicide was involved. The threatening note left in Titus’s mailbox suggests that someone wants revenge. Kate grew up in poverty in the Smoky Mountains, and her past is more complicated than Titus realized. Secrets from Kate's past begin to surface and force Titus to confront his demons from his own past. There was a dark mystery at play behind the arson that put everyone involved in the middle of a dangerous situation.
We Know You Know by David W. Tilley had me hooked from the first page until the end. The pacing was fast, but with enough time for me to process everything before moving on. The action kept me turning the pages as fast as I could. I could not wait to see what would happen next. The characters were strong and realistic. Kate’s troubled past adds to the mystery, and I wanted to see what role her past would play in the present. Addiction, betrayal, and revenge were handled with utmost care and sensitivity. The book was expertly written and held my attention throughout. A few subplots were woven together beautifully, and I enjoyed reading this book. It exceeded my expectations by far.
