Diane Merrill Wigginton was born in Riverside, California in 1963. Her family moved to San Diego near the end of 1970, where she grew up in the newly developed community of Mira Mesa. Spending portions of her summers each year in Burly, Idaho with her mother's parents, Florence and Orval Merrill, Diane developed a love of animals and a respect for the land. It was during this time on the farm riding horses, herding cattle and taming wild kittens, that Diane developed a love of storytelling. She dreamed that one day she would become a published author and share her stories with the world. Having spent her entire life in California, Diane and her husband made the bold move from Sacramento, California to Kalispell, Montana to retire in February 2018. Now she’s able to pursue her passion for writing books full-time. “I am thrilled and elated to be doing what I love.”
I am the mother of three, a daughter and two sons as well as step-mother to three wonderful boys. I enjoy my role as grandmother and currently have eight beautiful grandkids.
Life is very good in Montana. The pace is much slower and things seem simpler these days. I play with the grandkids, talk with my kids and hang out with my husband, our dog, and our new friends, and of course, I write. What could be better than that?

Isabella’s Heart, the second book in The Jeweled Dagger trilogy by Diane Merrill Wigginton is a unique continuation of Angelina’s Secret. This family has a secret, and even those who have witnessed their bond don’t understand it fully. Isabella and her twin brother, Charlie, were ripped apart at sixteen. Their parents' action in sending them to separate boarding schools was unforgivable in Isabella’s eyes. Three years later she learns of Charlie's abduction in her dreams. Knowing she must help him, she takes off to Ireland under the protection of Captain Aiden Townsend and his mercenaries. Aiden has secrets of his own which could be the death of Isabella before she even finds her brother. It all comes to a head when she is forced to face her parents. Those who abducted Charlie are lurking in the shadows for this independent woman who could bring them much money for their cause.
Well described characters give Isabella’s Heart an edge as Diane Merrill Wigginton endears them to the reader. This historical romance will take you to another world where a daring and outspoken woman is an unusual sight. The author weaves suspense, adventure, and humor throughout the novel, making it fun to read while anticipating the outcome of this couple. Though I enjoyed reading the whole novel, the author did an outstanding job on the ending. This story ends with the reader ready to pick up Olivia’s Promise, the next person in the family who holds a secret all of her own. Highly recommended for those who enjoy tales of historical romance and suspense.
