In Khyati Banker’s It’s OKAY to Fail! PanishiManishiStories Series, PM collection, Panishi attends Pinewood Primary School, where students compete for a place in a swimming event. Charlotte, known for winning past competitions, pressures Panishi to enter the trial after targeting her in front of their classmates. During a public practice race arranged by Charlotte, Panishi is overwhelmed by the crowd and leaves the pool before finishing, giving Charlotte the reaction she wanted. At home, Panishi works with her mother and coach Mark to reset her goal toward completing the trial and earning a selection. When the official trial begins, she returns to the pool under the same pressure, now prepared to finish the race while competing directly against Charlotte for a place on the team.

Khyati Banker’s It’s OKAY to Fail! is a children's story with genuine heart, dealing with a situation that is easy to read and includes little out-takes with quotable tidbits and font changes along the way. Panishi and Charlotte take the lead, but it's Panishi's sister and her fierce loyalty that I found most fascinating. There's just a fire there that I love. There are comic-book and clipart-style graphics by Mahek Chhabra dotted throughout each page that make the story more vivid visually. As the parent to a child who looks like Panishi, it is wonderful to see her represented in children's literature, and with a unique storyline and a brilliant message, this is a great read.
