Johnny Appleseed and the Apple Life Cycle is written by Rich Linville. Follow John Chapman through his adventurous life as he travels from place to place with his apple seeds. Even though he plants the seeds to grow apple trees, Chapman has another more fundamental goal. After walking with John Chapman (aka Johnny Appleseed) through the many places he visited throughout his life, learn the truth behind the life cycle of an apple. What goal did Johnny Appleseed have other than simply planting apples? Did he achieve his goals successfully? How did he set his goals in motion and who did it help? What is the life cycle of an apple? How long does it take an apple tree to bear fruit? Do the seeds inside an apple only produce the same fruit as the parent apple?
I loved Johnny Appleseed and the Apple Life Cycle by Rich Linville! The way the author explains John Chapman’s life and his goals is simple for anyone to read and enjoy. Even kids of an early reading age could discover interesting facts about Johnny Appleseed, his family and how different types of apples grow. I love the enlightening and entertaining illustrations as they lead the reader through the places John Chapman visited, then through the different stages that apple trees go through before producing fruit. I recommend Johnny Appleseed and the Apple Life Cycle to anyone with children of reading age. I hope that Linville has many more educational books in store that will help teach kids about historic adventures in this fun and imaginative way.
