Journey to Honeysuckle Mountain is the second book in The Adventures of Lorenzo the Bear, a children's animal storybook series written and illustrated by Carmela Dutra. Lorenzo wakes up one morning and discovers that he is out of honey for his breakfast oatmeal. He decides to go to Hank's Diner to have breakfast instead. On the way, he meets up with Leo the Lion who accompanies him to Hank's. When they get there, the diner is filled with customers who are there because they also have no honey. Hank tells Lorenzo that Poppy Hills Place has not had a shipment of honey from Queen Beverlee the Bumble Bee for some time. Lorenzo decides that he'll go visit the Queen on Honeysuckle Mountain and make sure she and her worker bees are all right.

Carmela Dutra's second book of The Adventures of Lorenzo the Bear, Journey to Honeysuckle Mountain, is a marvelous adventure story for children of all ages. Dutra's illustrations are fabulous! They're brightly colored and each panel is filled with details and animals to look at. The story itself is a child-sized epic quest, complete with a storm, a villain, a jerboa guide and a mountain with caves. There's a grand dramatic scene when Henry and his Band of Angry Hornets confront Lorenzo and Lorenzo stands tall and shouts, "I am Lorenzo the Bear!" that works brilliantly. Dutra's story is not only a great bed-time tale, but the exciting story and action-packed illustrations make this an offering that will tempt even the most reluctant readers to try their reading skills. The Adventures of Lorenzo the Bear, Journey to Honeysuckle Mountain, is most highly recommended.

The Adventures of Lorenzo the Bear: Journey to Honeysuckle Mountain by Carmela Dutra is a cute, delightful, and fun children’s book about Lorenzo the Bear. This is the second book in The Adventures of Lorenzo the Bear series, and the author of the book is also its illustrator. The book starts with a little introduction to the three main characters that we will meet in the book: Lorenzo the Bear, Leo the Lion, and Henry the Hornet. The story then continues with Lorenzo missing his honey and going to town in search of it. Along the way, he meets his friend Leo the Lion, and they find out that the entire town is out of honey. Hearing this, Lorenzo feels a bit worried and wonders if Queen Beverlee the Bumble Bee is okay. Thus begins Lorenzo and Leo’s adventure as they head to the Honeysuckle Mountain in search of the bees to find out the real reason behind the missing honey. Along the way, we meet all kinds of characters, some of whom help them on their journey as we witness the ultimate triumph of good over evil.

Carmela Dutra has written a great book that is perfect for early readers. She has also done a wonderful job on the illustrations which seem to be mostly done in pencil and crayon. This lends an old fashioned, simple look to the drawings which I love. I also think it is refreshing to get a taste of good, old-fashioned pencil and paper drawings in today’s modern world of computer generated images. The story itself is extremely appealing and one which children will want to read and hear over and over again. I also liked that it has a simple message in the end. All in all, I enjoyed reading this book as much as any kid, and would highly recommend it.

In The Adventures of Lorenzo the Bear: Journey to Honeysuckle Mountain, Lorenzo the bear loves his honey, especially for breakfast. Only, he's run out of honey. Not a good sign. He decides to head over to Hank's Diner for breakfast. Hank the Hippo is sure to have some honey. On the way, he meets his friend, Leo the Lion, and the two venture to Hank's together. Only Hank the Hippo doesn't have any honey either. In fact, no one in Poppy Hills Place has any honey and everyone is crowded into Hank's Diner for a breakfast of honey - without the honey. Lorenzo is determined to fix the problem. He and Leo venture off to Honeysuckle Mountain to see if Queen Beverlee the Bumble Bee is okay. They approach the mountain and Joel the Jerboa leads them through some secret passages to Queen Beverlee's hive. They are shocked to find the Queen chained and her helpers imprisoned. Henry and his band of angry hornets try to capture Lorenzo and Leo as well, but Joel comes to the rescue in the nick of time...

Carmela Dutra has written another charming book about a bear's adventure. Lorenzo the Bear is a very homey character with endearing qualities that can relate to any child. Lorenzo has his daily challenges and he endeavors to meet each challenge with courage and determination, always with a friendly disposition that shows a caring nature towards all around him. These are qualities that we need to accept and to nurture. The book is colorfully illustrated with simple pictures, making it look like a children's coloring book. The simple illustrations add to the allure of this story. Well done!

Sweet story of caring and friendship. Lorenzo the Bear is a great friend. Fun read for the little ones. Climb the mountains and you reach lofty goals, climb them with a friend and you make great memories. Lorenzo and Leo know how to have grand adventures

This is such a sweet book for young children! Lorenzo's adventure takes him to Honeysuckle Mountain with his friend Leo to discover why everyone is running out of honey. What could have happened to Queen Beverlee's hive that has caused honey production to grind to a halt?

I particularly love Carmela Dutra's illustrations which are hand-drawn and coloured with great attention to detail. There is so much here to entertain!

The Adventures of Lorenzo the Bear: Journey to Honeysuckle Mountain" written and illustrated by author Carmela Dutra is an adorable book with problems to solve and helping friends in need. When Lorenzo discovers he is out of honey for his morning oatmeal, he decides to head over to "Hanks Diner" before meeting his friend Lucy at the park. He runs into his friend Leo the Lion and they join together for their meal. What they find out from their friends at the diner spins this tale to quite an adventure! They have a big problem to solve and it won't be an easy one once they arrive at "Honeysuckle Mountain."
Readers will enjoy the delightful illustrations and the endearing hearts of Lorenzo and his friends.

The Adventures of Lorenzo the Bear: A Journey to Honeysuckle Mountain” is a “sweet” story by children’s author, Carmela Dutra. My grandson and I enjoyed reading Lorenzo's new adventure. He especially enjoyed looking at the detailed illustrations, also created by Ms. Dutra. I’m a retired teacher. I appreciated her use of alliteration for the characters’ names: Beverly the Bumble Bee, Henry the Hornet, Miss Jenni, the Jackrabbit. Parents and teachers can use these names to help little ones with their initial consonant sounds. No giveaways, but there’s a really fun twist at the end of this story! We LOVE Lorenzo and look forward to his next adventure! I was given a copy of this book for an honest review and feel this book earns 5- stars for Lovable Lorenzo and friends!

The second beautifully illustrated mystery adventure starring the super lovable Lorenzo bear. This time he must take on the villainous Henry and his Band of Angry Hornets to restore the supply of honey to his town. A fun tale of friendship and courage that is sure to engage and entertain young children. The detail in the cleverly hand-drawn and crayoned illustrations is absolutely delightful. A great series!
