Imagine living in the Magic City. That’s what people call Miami Beach. It’s the land of the rich and famous, beaches and finely tuned bodies, spas, and great places to dine out and socialize. What more could a person want? Or, for that matter, twin Pomeranians – star-studded and beautiful in their own right. And did I mention shopping? Just what every sweet Pomeranian would love. That and boating – it is, after all, a beach city.

Susan Marie Chapman’s picture book, Keeping Up With the Pomeranians, is a sweet look into one day in the life of two Pomeranians – twins, Sugar and Cookie, also known as Sassy and Classy. It’s hard to tell which is which, but they’re both adorable, as the bright, bold, colorful illustrations will prove. And they both appear to have a little dose of both sass and class. The two are fashion model icons, but they don’t let fame get in the way of being gentle and, of course, adorable. After the dogs are introduced, the author leads the reader through a daily regimen of lying on the beach, going to the spa, shopping, dining out, and so much more. There’s even a drag queen posing with the two Pomeranians.

It’s a busy life for Sugar and Cookie and even their sometime bodyguard. With all that the two Pomeranians pack into a day, from people-watching to fine dining, it’s an exhausting task keeping up with them. I love the photos that accompany each brief description of what the two active stars love to do. This is a fun book, a gentle memoir of two special dogs.
