Kids of Courage Camp Adventures: Kim’s Challenge by Kim Spence-Bollinger is a children’s picture book about twin sisters Kim and Mandy. Every 4th July Charity Bike Race, Mandy will compete for a chance to win the prize money for Camp U-Belong. Unfortunately, Mandy can’t take part in the race this year, so now it is up to Kim to prepare for the race. In just two weeks, she will have to find a way to compete with Cerebral Palsy, but no challenge is too big with the support of her fantastic family and friends!
Kids of Courage Camp Adventures by Kim Spence-Bollinger is a beautiful and wholesome picture book that spreads awareness of Cerebral Palsy. I liked that it simply explains Cerebral Palsy's symptoms, making it easy for young audiences to understand. I also liked that Camp U-Belong is where kids of many different disabilities come to spend the summer, showing young readers with disabilities that there are people like them. It also teaches children to keep pursuing their goals and that no idea is too big to achieve, encouraging children to think outside the box to attain their goals. The bright and colorful illustrations give a positive vibe. I recommend it to children and parents that face the challenges of having Cerebral Palsy, and I see it being a hit with its target audience.
