"Legacy of Raquia: The Rising of Warriors" by Tom Allard and Melissa Allard is a look into a world that is similar to ours in many ways and yet different in others. War is a commonplace occurrence as in our world; however, the weapons are entities of energy and witchcraft is so commonplace that it is the normal way. Raquia is a realm that values strength, where those who are of a higher being with big abilities can eliminate a whole army of those who are lesser. They can and do also fight to the death with those who have similar abilities. Loyalty is something that is as fleeting as a unicorn in our world and there are different species whose leaders have a huge problem with spies.
Tom and Melissa Allard have created a complex world that is fun to read. The story they bend around the words you are presented with is a good one. I really enjoyed the book over all. I did have a hard time finding a deeper connection with any of the characters but really in this novel it did not bother me that I couldn't. Once I sat down to read this book I found that I could not put it down very easily. You can get so lost in the powers and the world that is Raquia. I would recommend this one to anybody who likes a fantasy genre and loves to find themselves lost in a new world of powerful creatures.
