When Will I Ever Learn, written by Lynn Marceau and illustrated by Agostina Manzone, is an amusing poetry book written for children as a guide for the multifaceted journey of life. The book is divided into different chapters, all written from the perspective of children. The different chapters include things like family time, fun and silly times, what’s there to eat, friends and family, and school and other stuff to know. These are all situations in life that have an immense impact on a child’s life, and through the poems, they can either let out their frustrations or learn how to handle situations effectively. The poems are written humorously, like Mrs. McFerguson which is a poem about a neighbor with enormous shoes as only a child will see it. I Forgot is about forgetting Photo Day, a woe that has befallen everyone at one point or another. This collection contains it all, and any young child will enjoy reading and learning from it.
When Will I Ever Learn by Lynn Marceau offers both whimsical and keen insight into the lives of young children as seen through their eyes. Each poem is written with humor and simplicity and accompanied by perfect illustrations. The font and layout fit the poems in a fun way, ensuring the attention of a reader will be held with each one. Agostina Manzone outdid herself with the illustrations, complementing the poems with colorful and fun illustrations. They help readers better understand the poems and capture the essence of each one. This book will captivate and educate readers. The harmony of all aspects, theme, font, and illustrations makes it ideal for parents and teachers to use as a guide to help children in the navigation of their young lives. This book helps them realize that they are not the only ones experiencing life in this way. It will also inspire a love for poetry in young minds. This is more than a collection of poems; it is a navigation guide for young readers to better understand their feelings and the world they live in.
