Little Wisdom by Sumayyah is a beautiful collection of poems that show the amazing wisdom of an eight-year-old. The poems reveal Sumayyah's dreams and give sunshine, wisdom, hope and truth to readers. All the poems are well worded and this young poet is indeed an inspiration to all the writers of her age and also to older ones. The debut poetry book of this young author covers the different aspects of everyday life which we all share. The poet has done a great job of representing what she believes and her culture, and there is a deep understanding in the way she has covered the topics.
The poems written for Daddy and Mommy are loving and the poems revolving around topics like life and death are profound and reveal a great wisdom inside the mind of this eight-year-old. It is a good book for reading poems to small children and getting them inspired to write poetry. The poems reveal love for family, community and one's own self. The simplicity of the writing combined with the profound wisdom of an eight-year-old makes this book interesting.
The little girl's love for horses shows through in her poem for horses and the pictures are adorable. 'Reading' is another good poem for kids to highlight the importance of reading. All the poems are written from this young girl's heart and while some make you laugh, some poems will make you sad.
