Lost Boy is a slice-of-life mystery drama by Jacob Blosser. Set in the rural Appalachian town of New Wilmington, Ohio, the story follows Reverend Peter Gailey, pastor of St. Barnabas Church, whose life is irrevocably changed after he crosses paths with a kind-hearted young man named Jamie Perkins. Forced to leave home by his parents, Jamie finds sanctuary with Pete and Meg Gailey. After hiring Jamie to work at the church, Pete and Jamie help a young girl named Lacy get away from her abusive home. Meanwhile, the elderly are dying in the town, and Jamie happens to be the last person to see them before their deaths. It draws the suspicions of Sheriff Jack Rylander. However, Pete is convinced of Jamie's innocence and soon discovers his unique gift.

Author Jacob Blosser does a wonderful job of capturing the ambiance of small-town America, with its likable characters, realistic setting, and intricate relationship dynamics between the inhabitants of New Wilmington. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Lost Boy is a treat for readers of slower-paced, character-driven narratives that focus on the human experience. The characters act and talk like actual people you might have met in real life. Pete is someone who quietly works toward making other people's lives better. I loved the depiction of his home life with his wife and their two children. Although tragic events happen in this story, it ends on an optimistic note that offers hope. The underlying themes of faith and hope make the book all the more compelling and inspirational. Highly recommended!
