Author Biography

Kiana Donae is Michigan born and raised. She moved to Tennessee in high school and after she stayed because she met her now husband and fell in love. She now resides with her family in a small town near Grand Rapids, MI. She started writing poetry in elementary because her mom wrote poetry, however as she got older she found that the pen was therapeutic. Writing became her place of solace where she could go and release her emotions safely.

She hid her poetry for most of her adolescent & young teen life and even when she started sharing some poems, the really personal ones she still kept to herself. It wasn't until after getting married and having kids that she decided she was ready to share her writings with the world.

Many of her poems are true life based, and others are the stories/inspiration told to her pen as she views the lives of those around her and the lives of those in the world today. She is truthful with her pen, and you will find that her poems touch on many taboo subjects, such as rape, abuse, etc.

It's been said that her poems possess a melodic rhythm and that they are thought provoking, powerful, and bold.

Her first collection, Love and Ink, is only the beginning, as she is always observing the world and her life for more inspiration. ~Stay Tuned to this Author~

Beautiful and masterful! I love poetry that evokes emotion through witty and clever story telling and word play and this book delivered. I cant pick a favorite piece because there are too many choose from although I will say the women empowerment pieces were amongst my top faves. With every piece the poetess wrote it was engaging and thought provoking. This book simply represented poetry at its finest. I truly enjoyed this work & I look forward in high anticipation for future works by the poet.
