The cover of "Make Mine a Bad Boy" is enough to draw in most readers of romance novels. Author Katie Lane provides a steamy, sexy bad boy in the form of Colt, an outspoken and muscular biker boy who has a nasty reputation in the town of Bramble, Texas. Hope Scroogs is the darling of the town who has left to pursue a career in Hollywood, only to meet with disappointment and disillusionment. She returns to Bramble to take up with her childhood sweetheart Slate only to find out that her twin sister Faith has already staked out her claim on the man. Hope does everything in her power to avoid working out her unfinished business with bad boy Colt while the rest of the town goes about spreading gossip and attempting to avert a financial catastrophe.
I pretty much knew in the first chapter how the book would end and most readers will as well. However, that said, the book is well-written and the characters stay "true to character" to the end. I found myself much more intrigued with the townsfolk who appeared more in touch with their own needs and motivations than did the primary characters of Hope and Colt. It was the stories of the lesser characters which kept me interested in the book. Any reader would conclude that author Katie Lane knows how to leave the reader panting and wanting each and every romance scene to extend to another page.
