Mana Mutation Menace by Brian Wilkerson is the third book in the Journey to Chaos series. Eric Wately, the protagonist of the novel, is a humble mercenary. I know it is ironic, but it is oh so good. The novel begins and we find that he has recovered from his Mana Mutation process safely. This is actually a part of a series that I was already following! Eric is back and this time he has a world of problems ahead of him.

His mutation is complete, but there is a beast inside of him that is just dying to get out and wreak havoc in the world. You can imagine the kind of trouble it can cause Eric. The Mana Mutation Summit is just around the corner and everyone is waiting with bated breath if Eric can be the cure to this mutation problem or will he be overcome by his “inner beast.” It does not help his cause that his past enemies have joined forces, he is trying to save his life, and prove to the world that he is not the “beast.”

What can I say? I am an over excited reader who was dying for a sequel. I was squealing with delight half the time because Brian Wilkerson wrote such an amazing novel (once again!). Eric Wately fans will love it and many people will be introduced to the awesome hero of this novel because it can be read without having to read the previous novels in the series. Wilkerson makes this eclectic world endearing, fearsome and entertaining. And who doesn’t like a humble mercenary? A great addition to an equally amazing series!

In author Brian Wilkerson's new book, Mana Mutation Menace: Journey to Chaos, Book Three, his readers will again return to the world of Tariatla and the life of lead character Eric Wately. Eric has recovered from the mana mutation, but he finds himself a very changed man. Still appearing human on the outside, he sometimes feels the dark monster lurking within him, and sometimes he doesn't know if he has the ability to control that monster. He's got a lot to prove to the leaders of Tariatla; the Mana Mutation summit is coming up, and the whole world will be waiting to see if Eric is truly recovered and the hope for all citizens, or just another monster that should be destroyed. Even if he can prove his humanity to that group, he's still amassed a number of enemies that would like nothing more than for him to be dead.

Mana Mutation Menace was a fast paced thriller, one that kept me up reading late into the night. Author Brian Wilkerson has done a fine job in writing this rip roaring read that will keep his readers entertained from the beginning to the very last page. Readers who enjoy fantasy, especially urban fantasy, action, adventure, thrillers or just a great read will like Mana Mutation Menace and should definitely pick this book up as soon as possible. I am excited to go back and read the first two books in this series, and look forward to seeing more from the talented Brian Wilkerson in the future!

I just finished reading Mana Mutation Menace: Journey to Chaos, Book 3 by author Brian Wilkerson, and I can truly state, "Whoa!" What an exciting thrill ride of a read, continuing the story of protagonist Eric Wately as he tries to figure out who he is. He's recovered from the mana mutation, but is he still himself? He looks like his old self, but a darkness lurks within him, a deep and deadly darkness. The Mana Mutation summit is coming up, and everyone wants to know if Eric is the solution to all of their problems, or just another problem to be disposed of. Will he be able to convince the world of his humanity or will he perish, either at the hands of the leaders of Tariatla or his many enemies? You'll have to read the book to find out!

Mana Mutation Menace: Journey to Chaos, Book 3 was an absolutely fantastic read in the urban fantasy genre! It hooked me from the first page and kept me reading right through to the end. Author Brian Wilkerson has done a great job in creating characters that, while definitely fantasy based, are also characters that his readers will be able to relate to and connect with, truly the feat of a great author. His scene setting is spot-on, and readers will feel as if they are in the moment with Eric as they are reading along. Any reader who enjoys a great work of fantasy should definitely read this book. I am pleased to recommend this book, and certainly hope that Brian Wilkerson is hard at work on the new installment as we speak!

Journey to Chaos Book 3: Mana Mutation Menace by Brian Wilkerson is an epic tale. The story is a mixture of science and magic. There are a lot of very complicated concepts here and I strongly recommend that new readers start with the first book in the series. I didn’t so at times I felt a little lost. But with that said, I still thoroughly enjoyed this book. Eric Watley is a character I could relate to in a strange sort of way as he figures out who he is, what he can do and what is really important to him. I like his love interest, Kallen Selios, too and watching them figure out who they really are is part of the fun of Mana Mutation Menace. I’m a sucker for medieval type societies and I love science fiction and Brian Wilkerson cooks up an original weird mixture of both here. This world has balance. Everything in it is made of mana or chaos. This results in some very complex and convoluted metaphysics at times.

I’m going back to read the first two books in the series to catch up with all that’s happened to Eric and Kallen before, but that’s just me. You can definitely enjoy this Brian Wilkerson tale as a fun, action packed stand-alone novel. The characters are complex. Their goals are complicated and sometimes the lines between good and evil, monster and human, are crossed. A good world to dive into when you have the time. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Can anyone recover from Mana Mutation and still be what they used to be, with their humanity and faculties intact? Eric Watley is a “revenant,” one who happens to recover from the dreaded “mana mutation,” and while he looks forward to proving that he is truly human, there is a horde of enemies who will not rest until they see him eliminated. Those who could stand up for him are unable to accept that his mind hasn’t been indefinitely soiled and altered by evil. While Watley tries to figure out how to convince everyone that he is sane, the insidious Ordercraft prince is determined to use the mutation as a powerful weapon against humanity. Eric Watley could be the only hope of redemption for humanity. Will he succeed in proving his humanity and saving his own life, and will he have time enough to do it before his old enemies take him down? Mana Mutation Menace (Journey to Chaos Book 3) by Brian Wilkerson is a thrilling read, one that will set readers’ pulses racing.

Wilkerson’s ability to create neologisms that are appealing and suggestive of a world readers would want to inhabit is fascinating. Gifted with a rare imagination, the author creates compelling characters, creatures that could have human virtues, and puts them into a story that is as riveting as it is compelling. The language is beautiful, the pace hyper fast, and the conflict propels the story forward through sudden and unusual twists and turns that make it more gripping. Fans of Lord of the Rings and other fantasy tales will find Wilkerson’s characters interesting. In Mana Mutation Menace (Journey to Chaos Book 3) this author establishes himself as a highly creative and masterful storyteller.
