Messy Plans is the eleventh book in the Love Plans Series by Mona Risk. Dr. Matt Lopez has rigid rules about dating coworkers in his department. When he hires a nurse practitioner, Cathy Cooper, her credentials impress him, but her natural beauty is undeniable. He reminds the resident doctors he will not tolerate fraternization between employees in the emergency room. Despite his warnings to employees about romantic involvement, he falls for Cathy. After an emergency at a nearby school, Cathy allows her personal feelings to override her professional ones. She seeks to remedy a disastrous situation for an eight-year-old boy, but her decisions could cause the fire between her and Matt to die out before it builds to more than a fiery spark.
Mona Risk created a group of relatable characters that are easy to love! Readers' hearts will melt for Tommy as they hope for a positive resolution to his dilemma. The chemistry between Matt and Cathy is almost palpable, but the author keeps Cathy's independence as she navigates the course of her relationship with Matt. The steam is a nice bonus to the teasing scenes between the coworkers, as Matt had previously forbidden romances in the emergency room. The legal references seem well-researched, as nothing is immediately or miraculously granted. The plot moves quickly and this story can be savored over a week or devoured in a single afternoon. Messy Plans is great for readers who enjoy romances with interesting, steady plots.
