Micah's Wish by Pamela S. K. Glasner and Judy Brulo is full of friendship, adventure, and hope. Micah is a German Shepherd. He's being raised on a farm with his parents, siblings, and Farmer Adler. His fondest wish is to carry on the family legacy and be a hero. One by one his siblings are chosen. Some will be pets, show dogs, guide dogs, or police dogs. Micah waits to see what his role will be. Anita is a typical middle schooler until she has a horrible accident at summer camp and loses her sight. Anita and Micah connect and share some incredible adventures together. Will Micah get his wish and become a hero?

Pamela S K Glasner and Judy Brulo's early chapter book, Micah's Wish, is an engaging story that also presents an accurate picture of a guide dog's life. Anita's emotions in dealing with her loss of independence feel authentic. I loved how the interactions between Anita and Micah were told from both perspectives. The action and emotions involved had me on the edge of my seat as Anita and Micah navigated during the storm! Interspersed throughout the story are full-page illustrations by Foxhat, some in color, that depict pivotal moments in the tale. Kids will be engrossed in the story while also learning a great deal about how a guide dog helps someone who is blind. Anita's trials to regain her independence will encourage kids to tackle their challenges. Micah's Wish is an inspiring story that will satisfy young readers.

Micah, a German shepherd dog, is the biggest and strongest of his ten siblings. Farmer Adler has also told him that he is going to be a hero and do great things. However, all this did not matter when it came to choosing puppies for the “big jobs.” People cited his weight and emotional nature as barriers to his selection. Even when the police eventually took him, he could not complete his training as a police dog due to his placid nature. Micah was inconsolable. Anita Goldman, on the other hand, goes blind after a serious fall during horse riding. She is angry with life and lashes out at everybody. Destiny would bring these two together and give them meaning in each other's lives. Would Micah fulfill Farmer Adler’s prophecy of being a hero and doing great things? Find out in Micah’s Wish, by Pamela S K Glasner and Judy Brulo.

Micah’s Wish, although a children’s book, contains invaluable lessons that everybody can learn from. Here, the beauty of patience is seen. We also learn to appreciate who we are, embrace our uniqueness, and not compare ourselves to others. Most importantly, the happiness gained from fulfilling one's purpose and impacting lives, as seen in the book, is one worth emulating. Micah’s Wish is written in clear and simple language and is told using the first-person point of view, with Micah and Anita being the narrators. The beautiful illustrations by Foxhat help to tell the story better and give children a mental picture of events. I recommend Micah’s Wish as it is educative, entertaining, and motivating.

FOR ADULTS TOO!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. Besides having a wonderful story, it provided insight into people without vision and their guide dogs. It's a good tool to learn about the world of people with disabilities, their courage and determination. Perfect for all ages!

MICAH IS A HERO IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE
Others have said this book is charming and they're right. Micah's personality is delightful - I love the way he and his humans communicate. Other big pluses about the book: the ways that he and Anita learn from their mistakes, and the description of how Anita learns to cope with losing her eyesight. The book brings up important topics without preachiness. Kudos to the authors!

UPLIFTING AND HOPEFUL, INSPIRATIONAL
The story is full of hopeful trepidation until the main characters conquer their fears and help one another. Micah the guide dog is truly a hero and Anita is as well as they work together to overcome obstacles.

They inspire a community as they did myself too!

I have gifted this book to my great great niece and my dear friend who teaches forth grade in Orlando, FL. The book is in her library in her class room.

I highly recommend this book. We need heartfelt uplifting stories!

HEARTWARMING STORY!
What a cute story. I read this at the request of the author and really felt the warmth and love between the characters, both human and canine! I will definitely gift this to my grandson in a few years when he is ready for chapter books. I would recommend for kids aged 8/9 and up to 11/12. Lots of good vocabulary words for them to look up while reading!!

A HAPPY GRANDFATHER
Micah's Wish is a delightful read. My 9 year old granddaughter has just begun enjoying chapter books.

This heartfelt story kept her attention. Nice to have her off screens for a while. I even caught her smiling a few times as she was reading.

Look forward to further adventures for Micah.

This beautifully written book about courage, friendship and perseverance is structured with several elements that successful stories for young people share. Woven in with its rich detail about real life situations are meaningful themes and illustrations that could easily draw in older readers as well.

The main characters, who face realistic life challenges and strive to overcome them are also relatable to a diverse group of readers. A young girl who is injured in an accident that results in blindness is inspiring as she and her loyal assistance dog, Micah draw on their experiences and the support of family and friends to realize their ambitions of true fulfillment together.

This book is a must have for libraries, classroom or after school settings, to engage students with meaningful discussion and to possibly encourage self expression through their own illustrations from its multi-faceted themes. Well done!

MORE THAN JUST A BRILLIANT STORY
Micah’s wish is an early teens book focused upon a shared adventure between a German shepherd (Micah) puppy and young girl Anita losing her sight. This is an action packed and extremely satisfying narrative; it hits all the major points of contact that young teenagers yearn for, but it is more than that. In an age where young people’s novels are either filled with darkness, magical resolutions or all-to-young relationships, it is deeply refreshing to read a book which is not only well written but, to use an old-fashioned word ‘enjoyable’.

What Glasner and Brulo have created here is more than that though. This book positively pushes cognition, safely engages with themes of loss and transiting difficulty, is adventurous and is genuinely progressive. I loved reading this and am giving it to my 8-year-old niece for Christmas.
