Mister Spunky And His Friends by Kelly Preston is the story of Mister Spunky, a happy dog who loved driving around in his convertible with the top down and his sunglasses on. Mister Spunky loved the beach and enjoyed playing in the waves. As he is driving along the freeway to the beach, he sees a frightened dog. He takes the frightened dog, Buffy, with him to the beach. As they drive along, they pick up two more dogs and they all go to the beach together and have loads of fun.
The story is adorable and kids will fall in love with Mister Spunky, Buffy, Carla, and Miss Sunshine. The illustrations are bright and lively and give good pace and movement to the story. They also breathe life into the characters and scenes. It's an excellent bedtime storybook that conveys good messages to young readers and can also be used for interactive sessions in classrooms and school libraries. Each dog in the story has a personality of its own, and all dog lovers will be able to connect well with the story.
Children understand concepts and themes more easily when narrated with the help of a story and illustrations. Mister Spunky and his friends will remain in the minds of young readers for a long time and so will the book as it speaks about the power of friendship. An adorable story that highlights the importance of friendship, love, and how to be kind and helpful to those with special needs.
