Music in the Mirrors is a work of fiction penned by author Greg Kuznetsov in the fantasy, adventure, and magical realism subgenres, and it forms the opening book of Leaves From a Tree. The work is best suited to the general adult reading audience. Readers are invited to explore a mesmerizing odyssey that unfolds across diverse landscapes, both literal and metaphysical. In this vast and interconnected novel, Kuznetsov introduces us to a surreal world trapped within a snow globe by an immortal Mongolian conqueror known as the master of mirrors. From a Zanzibarian disc jockey to a reclusive professor on a quest for his baboon, each character contributes to a multichromatic mission that spans surreal landscapes and worlds. The city, Narrm, undergoes a fantastical transformation, and its vibrant essence is replaced by purple rain and mystical mirrors.
Author Greg Kuznetsov has crafted a compellingly surreal adventure with a narrative that takes us through a kaleidoscope of eccentric characters guided by their mischievous Blowfish deity. The author weaves a rich tapestry of imagery, combining elements of fantasy, philosophy, and mysticism with the mundane moments of everyday living to create a poignant clash where art meets life. The prose is poetic and immersive, inviting readers into a dreamscape where the boundaries between reality and fantasy blur, and I soon found myself absolutely hooked on unpicking how it all worked and what it all meant. Kuznetsov's flair for unique and quirky narrative shines as he crafts a world that is both whimsical and thought-provoking, taking readers on a cosmic journey where the laws of physics and storytelling are beautifully disrupted. Overall, I would highly recommend Music in the Mirrors for fans of magical realism as a delightfully literary kaleidoscope and a poignant exploration of the extraordinary woven into the fabric of the everyday.
