Musing and Meandering: Random Thoughts During the Pandemic is a work of collected poetry and expressions, and was penned by author Donna Davis Lewis. As the title suggests, the work focuses on the state of the world during 2020 and the coronavirus crisis, in which the author attempts to process current life and emotion after some drastic changes for us all. Covering topics from the fight against racism in America and the wider world, through to daily frustrations and small happy moments discovered amongst them, this is a varied and entertaining collection which will certainly be something for all readers to relate to.
Author Donna Davis Lewis delivers a beautiful and heartfelt collection of poetic expressions that are sure to bring knowing smiles and nods of agreement from the readers who encounter it. The author’s wordplay blends between deceptively simple statements and more figurative imagery, both of which express common truths with great emotion and clarity. For example, one of my favorites was ‘A Rose By Any Other Name’, which takes on the topic of racial injustice in such a straightforward yet highly effective way. I loved that the author gave so much of herself towards the writing, pouring out some raw and personal moments of how she sees the world and how the pandemic has affected her personally. This makes for a highly resonant collection that will stand the test of time. Overall, I would highly recommend Musing and Meandering: Random Thoughts During the Pandemic as a worthy collection for any reader to enjoy again and again.
