My Journey as an Author by M.C. Ryder is a must-read for everyone. Ryder is bursting with passion for writing. At one point, he states, "When writing becomes a job and not an enjoyment, I told myself I would stop." He concludes this memoir by affirming that being an author is a lifelong journey. His first book, The Darkest Side of the Moon, took him over ten years to write. The second one, A Dance Between Light and Darkness, took him approximately five months. Ryder realized that being an author is not simply about writing; an author ensures that his work gets into the hands of readers. Thus, after some research, he partnered with New Book Authors Publishing. He actively works with their team to publish and market his works, including this memoir. Having learned many lessons throughout the years, Ryder shares his story in a very relatable thought-provoking manner.

I highly recommend My Journey as an Author by M.C Ryder, especially to those looking for motivation to chase their dreams. I appreciate that while Ryder has accomplished so much, his humility comes through in his conversational tone. As a fellow author, I completely related with him on everything he had to say about music, especially how freeing it is. Unfortunately, I also related with him when he mentioned that he used to stress eat. When Ryder opened up about his struggles during the Covid-19 pandemic, I became really emotional. In a lot of ways, this book felt like a mirror. The transparency in this short but impactful memoir forced me to reflect on my life. I believe that this is the main purpose of the book. I am looking forward to reading all the books that he has written, and the ones that are yet to be written and published.
