Happily Ever Antlers: A Christmas Story by J.B. Fitzgerald is a magical holiday novel where the fates of a Philadelphia jingle writer and a mysterious white calf born at the North Pole become unexpectedly intertwined. Felicity Nichols, stuck in a stagnant marriage and yearning for reconnection with her cultural roots, is determined to make it home for Christmas. However, a sudden catastrophe propels her and her reluctant husband, Calvin, into the fantastical world of The Pole, a hidden realm ruled by Mr. and Mrs. Claus and a host of historic figures, including Amelia Earhart. As Felicity adapts to her new environment and reclaims lost parts of her identity, she also becomes entangled in a larger destiny that threatens the very future of Christmas. With the Reindeer Council plotting behind the scenes and a failing Santa in need of a successor, Felicity’s journey of self-discovery, healing, and unexpected heroism unfolds against a snowy backdrop of holiday magic.

Author J.B. Fitzgerald knows how to pitch the perfect atmosphere for holiday hijinx, and that comes across on every page of this vivid, original North Pole story filled with heart, humor, and wonder. I certainly felt transported by the magic, with a fantastic balance of festive whimsy and a deeper emotional story that handles the themes of identity and healing without losing holiday cheer. I loved the historical interludes and influences which helped to give the novel its classic Christmassy feel, and Felicity’s journey is an empowering exploration of reclaiming yourself, no matter what crazy things are happening in the world around you. The author writes with close narrative detail that lets us into Felicity's heart and mind so that she becomes like a friend to us, and someone we’re sure to root for as the twists of the plot challenge her to grow. Overall, Happily Ever Antlers is highly recommended as a standout Christmas adventure that’s sure to please anyone looking for a fresh take on holiday stories with diverse, memorable characters.

J.B. Fitzgerald brings us a magical Christmas story in Happily Ever Antlers. Felicity Nichols has been married to Calvin Dyer for six years. It would seem that their marriage has probably run its course. The only thing Felicity is looking forward to is spending Christmas with her family. Tragedy strikes, and Felicity and Cal find themselves transported to another world filled with tinsel and snow. As Felicity accepts her new life at the North Pole, Cal struggles to accept the truth and responsibility. An orphaned newborn reindeer finds comfort with Felicity and makes her feel more at home. And when Felicity finds friendship with the new stable hand, she discovers that healing is possible. But this will all be for naught if Christmas can’t be saved.

“Everything fell silent, save for the gentle impact of snowflakes upon glass.” This is just one of the many magnificent lines that author J.B. Fitzgerald wrote, which effortlessly draws the reader into the story and creates moments of wonder. The character descriptions are detailed, making the characters themselves likable and relatable. Sensory stimulation is done to perfection, which aids in creating scenes filled with wonder. Any reader will be infused with awe from start to finish, and the spellbinding plot is accompanied by witty dialogue. There is a resounding theme of found family saturating the pages, making Happily Ever Antlers the perfect book for Christmas.

Happily Ever Antlers by J.B. Fitzgerald is a fun, seasonal story set in the North Pole. An extraordinary thing has happened: a white reindeer calf has been born. On the same day in Philadelphia, something else happens that will change two lives forever. Felicity Nichols is a jingle writer, and it’s fair to say that her marriage is on its last legs. She’s desperate to return home to her family for Christmas, but when her husband intervenes, they find themselves transported to another realm. Shockingly, so are Mr. and Mrs. Claus, their family and entire staff, and a whole host of characters from history. Felicity and Cal set off on a fantasy adventure, but trouble is brewing. Is the North Pole at risk? Who will succeed Santa if it all comes crashing down?

Happily Ever Antlers by J.B. Fitzgerald is a unique story that combines real life with urban fantasy. It is a fun read, but it’s not your normal Christmas tale, with what feels like sci-fi threads combining with fantasy to create something quite out of the ordinary. It is a descriptive story that transports you right into it, and the characters feel very real, even Santa and Mrs. Claus, not to mention the reindeer and the elves, too. The addition of various historical characters gives the story another dimension, and the adventure is one you will never forget. A lot is going on, but each chapter heading makes it clear where you are and what day it is, and it packs in an awful lot of action. Forget Christmas; this is one story you’ll want to read over and again, no matter what time of year it is, and it's a great way to forget about all the trouble in the world right now.
