What is stronger than the bond between a mother and child? That’s right! Nothing! My Little Tangerine: To All the Mothers in Our World is a sweet homage to the love between a child and mother. M. T. Fon shares themes of unconditional love and acceptance. This love leads to feeling secure, which in turn gives the child the courage to try new things. A parent’s strength to protect and provide for the child gives way to the child learning how to express gratitude. This maternal love continues from childhood into adulthood. If a child has love, they have all they really need. Unfortunately, motherhood has been under attack recently, but the author wants women to understand that nothing is greater than being a mother.

For forty-plus years, I worked as a pastoral counselor and saw the destruction caused by absent or distant mothers. M. T. Fon has a good outlook and understanding of the importance of being a loving and accepting mother. My Little Tangerine: To All the Mothers in Our World is a breath of fresh air concerning the vital need of children to know they are unconditionally loved and accepted. Fon is both a good writer and illustrator. She blends her skills in this book to present a readable and enjoyable children’s story. The inspiration for this book is her experience as a loving mother. This book is an absolute delight to read aloud to your child. Not only will you enjoy reading this book to your child, but your child will also grow in understanding the loving things a mother does for her child.

My Little Tangerine: To All the Mothers in Our World by M. T. Fon is a sweet and gentle love letter to moms everywhere. The story begins with two tangerines hanging from a branch. The young tangerine relates in rhyming verse all the ways her mother cares for her. Mom started loving and protecting her when she was just a tiny seed in her belly. As she has grown, her mom takes care of all her needs and nurtures her every step of the way. Mom surrounds her with love, and that love is returned by her little tangerine, who hopes someday to be just like her.

My Little Tangerine is filled with sweetness and joy. Being a mom is hard work, demanding, and never-ending but also fulfilling. Weary moms will appreciate the sentiments that M. T. Fon shares in this charming story. Children may not often express in words their admiration for all the things their mothers provide for them, but moms know by their actions that they are loved. I can envision moms and children cuddled up together in a cozy place as they read My Little Tangerine.

Our world needs more stories like My Little Tangerine that showcase love, dedication, and happiness. M. T. Fon's illustrations are beautiful. You can't help but smile when you see the rosy-cheeked, little orange tangerines on every page. The pictures complement the story perfectly. My Little Tangerine: To All the Mothers in Our World is a lovely story that will make a perfect gift for first-time moms.

My Little Tangerine: To All The Mothers In Our World by M.T. Fon is a precious story of a mother tangerine talking to her small child. This is a fun picture book for young children and is told by a mommy tangerine as she uses things in nature to show her young tangerine child how much she cares, like sheltering the child with her leaves in the rain and encouraging them to get sunlight during clear days. The book is filled with endearing artwork that echoes the mother's words. The soft vibrant colors fit the story well, adding a touch of warmth to a mother's love and a calming aspect to the entertaining story.

While there are other picture books about mothers, I particularly enjoyed reading My Little Tangerine by M.T. Fon. The author did a great job of expressing the love of a mother toward her child and giving readers illustrations that are soothing for both mother and child. The story has a smooth flow that makes it easy to read and a great story for any time, from a quick tale after mealtimes, to something fun to read while waiting, or even at bedtime. The text is written in a beautiful flowing font that I enjoyed and found to be a great fit for the art style, adding yet another layer to this beautiful depiction of a mother's love.
