My Maddy, My Daddy by Rodo Sofranac captures a father-daughter relationship and their closeness beautifully. Maddy loves her father and her father loves her. Maddy has great friends and is a great talker, and her father loves her for that too. Maddy loves her daddy because he is a great listener. They love each other a lot and they need each other too. Maddy lifts her father’s spirits and calms his temper, and her father likes her rechargeable energy hug. Maddy’s father has taught her good values like trust and faith. Maddy loves the fact that her father loves her mother very much, and Maddy loves her entire family.
The story highlights the concepts of sharing, loving, and respecting each other for what they are. The message of doing everything together is also valuable. The illustrations are adorable and they breathe life into the characters, making them come alive to readers. Maddy and her father are lovable characters and readers will be able to relate to them and their feelings for each other. It is a good bedtime storybook that can be used to read aloud to children and it can be helpful in increasing the bonding between parents and other family members. The story is also good for interactive sessions in classrooms and school libraries. Stories like this are good as they make readers feel good and help them understand the importance of having a good relationship with their parents and other family members and vice versa.
