My Name Is Winter by Athena Grace is a children's picture book told by Winter, a six-year-old girl most people call Winnie. The book follows one full, busy day in her life while she shares the things she enjoys the most. She jumps on her trampoline, puts on a red dress she loves, and bakes cupcakes with her mom. Winter paints, rides her bike, and plays outside with her neighbor’s dog. She also loves to swim at the pool, visit the county fair, and read fun books about ballerinas. Winter often goes to the park with her best friend, where they play. As time passes, she talks about the future and the kind of person she hopes to become one day.

Athena Grace's My Name Is Winter uses simple language and short rhymes that are easy for young readers to follow. The settings are everyday places that children will recognize right away. The book focuses on regular childhood moments instead of complex events, which makes it warm and friendly. Winter is happy, curious, adorable, and full of energy throughout the story. Her thoughts about future jobs help kids think about their future dreams and growing up, without putting pressure on them too early in life. Kindness, spending time with loved ones, and helping others are themes that are explored throughout the book. The writing flows well for reading aloud activities and would also work for early readers. Parents who want a positive and gentle story about childhood will enjoy reading this with their children. Highly recommended.
