Author Biography

Award-winning author Lena Gibson is a storyteller as an elementary school teacher and keeper of the family lore. As someone with autism, she often creates characters that reflect this experience.

A voracious reader from childhood onward, Lena seeks wonderful books in which to escape. She loves interesting characters and fast-paced, emotional narratives, leading her to write genre-defying stories in multiple categories. While her books are disaster romance, time slip, dystopian adventure, and sports romance, all are about love, resilience, and hope.

When Lena isn't writing, she reads, practices karate, and drinks a ton of tea. She resides in New Westminster, Canada, with her family and their fuzzy overlord, Ash, the fluffiest of gray cats.

No Home Without You: Love and Survival Book 3 by Lena Gibson follows the story of Lissa and Cam Montgomery, survivors who couldn’t be more unlike each other, brought together by chance. After an asteroid hits, leaving the West Coast uninhabitable and much of the West seriously damaged, the survivors are either refugees huddled in the remains of cities or survivalists hunkered down in their prepared sites. Lissa is one of the former, until she decides to strike out on her own, with her two cats. Cam Montgomery has lived all his life in a survivalist community known as xTerra, and knows little of the outside and even the above-ground world. In a deserted Nebraska mansion that Lissa has made into a home, they learn to trust each other as they overcome numerous obstacles.

If you tend to avoid post-apocalyptic fiction because it seems too bleak, this is the book to change your mind. Gritty and hopeful at the same time, No Home Without You affirms that the things that matter most, such as love, beauty, loyalty, kindness (and cats and dogs!), do survive. The book showcases Lena Gibson’s skills as a writer, bringing together the plot, characters, narrative, and dialogue seamlessly to create a gripping tale. It reads at times almost like a philosophical and practical guide to survival, but the pace of the action never flags. There are descriptive sections of great beauty, such as Cam discovering the natural world. Peaceful interludes, with Lissa and Cam crafting and homesteading, add to the realism. This is a very timely and thought-provoking book, as well as a great read.
