Nope! Not Doing It! Conquering Fear by Nina Kassam teaches young readers how to overcome fear and the importance of self-awareness. Using vivid, illustrated examples, the book begins by asking readers if they have ever experienced being scared of something that caused them to feel stuck. To answer this question, the book provides some real-life examples of situations that discourage people from trying something new due to fear, such as learning to ride a bike, going to the eye doctor, or giving a class presentation. Because your mind believes everything you tell it, the book teaches you how to condition your mind to make the right choice when deciding what to think.
Nope! Not Doing it! is a personal development book presented in story form. This makes for a great school or bedtime read, as an adult can help explain to students or children why confidence can overcome fear. Nina Kassam writes in a friendly, conversational tone. The important lesson here is that you will never discover the great things you can accomplish until you try. It is an ideal story to develop the right mindset in children to use when they become old enough to face the real world. Nino Aptsiauri’s illustrations create the appropriate mood for the theme, with the girl character projecting the right expressions and body movements that demonstrate her transition from fear to self-confidence. This book should be included on every home and library bookshelf.
