In Notice to Mariners by Jack Heape, Jacob Van de Harvey was summoned to the headquarters of the Federation Navy. The Portland Zee, a Federation starship, had gone missing, and the Federation needed Jake to lead an urgent rescue mission to find the lost ship. In exchange for an officer's commission in the Orion Federation Navy, Jake had to resign from his employment. Jack represented the last hope for success in this rescue mission as a desperate search for the missing starship was undertaken by Jake and the Pegasus crew. When Jake and his team arrived at the rescue site, they encountered an unexpected and deadly threat. It was something far more dangerous than they anticipated, and the missing ship had been destroyed. Jake and his crew were determined to find out why and by whom.

Notice to Mariners had me hooked from the start. Jack Heape took me on the adrenaline-fueled adventure of space travel and military operations. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat, and I turned the pages as fast as I could. All the twists and turns had me guessing until the end. The descriptions of the events were fantastic and detailed. The characters were well-developed and authentic. I felt as if I was with them on their journey. Jacob was my favorite. He was determined to succeed and the perfect man to lead Pegasus. I enjoyed the quotes at the beginning of the chapters. The story is well written, and the author’s personal naval experience makes it special. It was much more than I expected.
