Object of Balance is a work of fiction in the fantasy and adventure subgenres. It is aimed at the middle-grade and young-adult reading audience and was penned by Lesley Fisher. In this story of daring fairies who embark on a dangerous quest to save their world from darkness and destruction, we follow the nine fairy sisters, Heaven, Hope, Kadence, Ryleigh, Emily, Brooklyn, Faith, Bethany, and Maddy as they grow in strength and courage. On their quest, the fairies make new friends and learn new things, whilst also facing mythical beasts like dragons, giants, ogres, and more. What results is a charming fantasy adventure that fans of light-hearted and action-packed stories are sure to adore.

Middle-grade readers and the younger end of the YA spectrum will certainly discover a fantastic adventure in this book, although the characters may be a little too perfect and polished for those who prefer their leading heroes with more grit. There is an utterly charming, classic Disney-esque quality to Lesley Fisher’s writing that harks back to the charm of childhood fairy tales, and the author’s dedication to the world and characters she’s created is second to none. The different locations featured in the work were highly inventive and described with cinematic flair, bringing the magic and monsters of high fantasy to life with vibrant, easily-imagined descriptions. This feels like an adventure that readers can lose themselves in, and I can’t wait to see more ideas from such a creative author. I would recommend Object of Balance for fans of light, bright fairy fantasy everywhere.
