Worse, her husband, Dara, and his brothers have been detained on trumped-up charges. Will Silloo brave this storm and fight for her family, or will she give up and return to London, where her mother lives? The town of Aden had been vibrant for many years, the epitome of commerce and culture. Dara's grandfather had moved to Aden from India and started a successful business like many other merchants. Dara must struggle to save his business and family, but how did things turn so bad this easily? Does the impromptu British withdrawal have anything to do with it? Find out in Of Mud & Honey by Roxana Trabulsi.

Of Mud & Honey by Roxana Trabulsi is meticulously written. The book takes you to Yemen without you leaving your couch. The characters are well-developed. I loved the strong female character of Silloo; it will inspire many women. Roxana describes the events vividly, and the characters' emotions are well captured. The book also captured some issues that are very key to society, such as the role of governance and our place as citizens in standing up for truth and justice, especially during oppression. The language used in this book is easy to understand, and the reader will appreciate the diverse plotline.
