Oh Holy Chicken Fingers, Pickle Juice, and Cheeseballs! by Joseph Lupton is a fun-to-read children's book that contains three stories with non-human characters to show acts of heroism. The Chicken Man Story talks about Chicken Man (Joseph) as he teamed up with his old friend Dodo Man to fight against Dark Poultry Lord and Dark Dodo Dude from serving the citizens of Avesopolis for a royal banquet. Next, we have the Pickle Man story, where Pickle Man (Joseph) faces off against Farmer Mac Evil, who created a giant mushroom minion and stole the DNA of Pickle Man to create his clones and deploy them as his army. And lastly, we have the Rat of Justice story, where the Rat of Justice (Joseph), with the help of Stupendous Cat, fought against Catello and Mex Meowther to stop them from serving all the citizens of Rodentville as a gourmet snake feast. Together these stories showcase an amazing array of engaging characters, action, and displays of heroism.
Oh Holy Chicken Fingers, Pickle Juice, and Cheeseballs! contains lots of morals and values that not only make it a fun read but also an inspiring read. I was caught up with the way the author showed the battle between the forces of good and evil. The heroes stand as champions of justice who protect the innocent, while the villains embody greed and disregard for others. The character development in this book is worth commending. Joseph Lupton added some flaws to the strength or ability of the heroes, making them more relatable as they had to seek support from friends to fight against their enemies. This shows the importance of teamwork and unity in our society today. I recommend this book to middle-grade readers, superhero fans, and families looking for positive, entertaining stories.
