Ormnhi Moon is a work of fiction in the epic fantasy genre and serves as the second installment of the Titanian Chronicles series. It is aimed at young adult readers and was penned by author Leisl Kaberry. Following on from the first book, Afeclin, Wolflang, and Lenna struggle to get by in their new home in the face of growing power from the Dark Mage. As the three and their allies begin fighting back against the threat to their world, the arrival of the Norvakian Queen tests their resolve to its limits as they prepare themselves for the fight of their lives.

This book is intensely rich in deep and well-conceived lore; the world-building alone is highly praiseworthy and draws the reader into the land of Marrapassa. Within this lore lies a tightly told and exciting tale of heroes and the struggles that lie between them and the promise of peace in their lives. Leisl Kaberry’s prose is excellent and the descriptive writing brings the world and its characters to life on every page, creating a beating heart to the thrilling adventure that lies within. The themes of the book are also excellently realized as Ormnhi Moon touches on the ideas of personal growth and responsibility whilst using its characters to show fascinating sides of the human condition. This book will tempt you into starting with the high-stakes fantasy story set in an original and dynamic world, but the struggles of the characters to not just survive but grow in a dangerous world will keep you turning the pages.

Ormnhi Moon by Leisl Kaberry, the second book of the Titanian Chronicles, continues the story to balance the forces of good and evil. Afeclin, on the brink of becoming a fully-fledged wizard, receives his final mission from his master to travel to the island of Norvak and find out what the Dark Mage is plotting. Wolflang and the Scorpius Legion travel to the town of Fraida which has seen an influx of trolls and dark knights. The Scorpius Legion must destroy the presence of Moorlan’s army in Fraida and re-establish control of the town. Lenna seeks to free herself from slavery before anyone learns Sarvina’s secret. Will the Dark Mage reach his goal of completing the Merndaicur or will the diverging paths of Afeclin, Wolflang and Lenna bring about the Ormnhi before it is too late?

Leisl Kaberry’s Ormnhi Moon captivated me with its plot and characters. Wolflang, Afeclin and Lenna are written with amazing depth and striking character qualities such as loyalty, camaraderie, and compassion. These qualities contrast well with our antagonists who are ruthless, selfish, and domineering. Leisl Kaberry weaves a plot full of intricacy and mystery as it is never clear how developments in the story will affect the characters and events later on. I loved the fantasy world-building on display as mages, elves, a gryphon, a dragon and beasts unique to Titanian Chronicles make their appearances. I also enjoyed the illustrations of creatures - truly a treat for the eye to go along with a fantastic story. Ormhni Moon is reminiscent of The Lord of the Rings series with an intricate plot, lovable characters, and battles filled with magic and steel.

Ormnhi Moon is a fantasy story Leisl Kaberry created to add to the Titanian Chronicles series. The story opens with the Dark Mage Alkarrien searching for the mendaicur. After brutally murdering a tribe of druids, Alkarrien continues his hunt for the remaining pieces. Afeclin has been training to become a wizard for five years. When his mentor sees the warlord Moorlan and Alkarrien are joining forces, Afeclin is sent to Norvak to discover what plans are brewing. Meanwhile, the military troop led by General Flaigon enters Draamine to find three of Wolfang’s past friends sentenced to death. To prove his worthiness to be an official member of the Scorpion Legion, Wolfang must figure out how to save the men from their death. Wolfang, with his lawfabex, chooses to bring Oomall and Kaygar to scale the cliffs, hopefully, to catch the men as they are thrown off. Three stories focusing on the Elves encompassed in one novel are full of fantasy creatures and incredible feats of bravery.

Leisl Kaberry’s Ormnhi Moon is a complex fantasy story that kept me on edge. Afeclin was the most interesting character to me. He lacked any selfish behavior and genuinely wanted to succeed in helping others. His ability to shift into another creature was painful; it seemed to make him exhausted. I also found it quite intriguing that Alkarrien could be psychically brought into anyone’s mind if they spoke his name. The end of the book made me connect with Afeclin, and I understood completely how he felt. The vivid imagery of the characters' emotions displayed how easy it was for me to immerse myself in the story. I am sincerely looking forward to reading the sequel to see how each character evolves even further. Fantasy readers that enjoy well-developed characters and unpredictable plotlines with a touch of romance will fall in love with Ormnhi Moon.
