In this book of poems, the author writes about the experiences of her horrific and tortured childhood. She and her brother suffered pain, physical and sexual abuse, and everyday acts of violence and torture and endured this horrible home life by their parents as they were growing up. Rev. Hudson speaks of the abusive treatment they received and the horrible food given to them that no one could eat, and if they didn’t eat it, it was given to them the next day. The author uses her poetry as a means of pouring out all her emotional feelings about her parents and her brother and the abuse she suffered. She is pretty straightforward in her writing, being honest about what happened.

Wow, no one should have to face the abuse Rev. Hudson faced as a child and through her growing up years. It is very difficult to understand why parents have children only to abuse them. I admire the author for her strength and courage to tell her story. I appreciate that she not only sought help for herself, but she is involved in many different things to help others in difficult and abusive situations.

If you live in abusive or difficult situations, I encourage you to get a copy of Rev. Hudson’s book, to read for yourself, and let it be a start in taking a stand for yourself and getting the help you need. The main thing to remember is that there is hope and help for you.
