It has been many years since Amanda and her father, Edward Price, a high powered CEO have been estranged. Now Edward Price is missing and Amanda is a suspect. Cruz Romero is the special agent in charge of the case. Evidence points to Amanda as the culprit but when she is shot by a sniper in her home, Agent Romero is forced to protect her. As the case progresses so does the attraction between the two. Read Outmaneuvered by J.L. Hammer to find out who the real killer is, and if the two main characters will succumb to their desires and be with each other.
I liked this book from the first chapter but especially the last quarter when the action really picked up. My favorite part was the trip to Vegas. I found everything I wanted in this novel: there were shots fired, men down, secrets discovered, attraction sizzled and relationships formed. The real bad guy was not that surprising but not very obvious. I loved Cruz and his interrogation skills, and the way he was called The Panther. There was a side story, which involved Big Mike, Juliet and Grace which was also nice and equally exciting. I enjoyed how both these stories intertwined in the end.
Outmaneuvered is funny, thrilling, action packed, tragic and sad, a little psychotic and overall an excellent read. This is only J.L. Hammer’s second book but she definitely made it to my 'to watch for' list. I will be looking forward to more stories from her and I think I am interested in Tex’s story next.
