Siren Crow and G. L Tomas's Owned is the first book in the Faeborne Brides series. It features Aranzeiros and Paige’s romance as fated mates. Aranzeiros and his six brothers are mourning the death of their father, King Tarron. As an heir to the throne, Aranzeiros must find a bride before he can ascend as king. Lianthore, his brother, discovers the assassination of their father. They meet with the council to resolve the issue. The council enacts the Earth/Esterbrooke Accord, which permits fae to abduct human brides without their consent. Meanwhile, Paige is working paycheck to paycheck but still cannot make up the back rent she owes. It shocks Paige when the famous Aranseiros Faeborne asks her to join him for dinner. Her shock morphs into outrage when he forcibly carries her to a waiting limousine. She fights, but nobody can hear her screams for help.
Siren Crow and G. L. Tomas eloquently pen a romance filled with suspense and action on every page. It depicts Paige's independence in exceptional detail. It voiced her dislike of being controlled in snappy retorts in her conversation with Aranzeiros. The alternating views between Paige and Aranzeiros gave me a deep look at their insecurities. The novel constantly builds suspense with several conversations with the supporting characters. The funny interactions between Paige and the Faeborne brothers balance the darkness of the plot. A simple game of Uno almost turning into a brawl, and Paige introducing Aranseiros to ice cream were some of the memorable moments. The unpredictable twists held me spellbound as I watched the couple learn to be partners. Equality is an important lesson for fae and humans; one group isn’t superior to the other. Owned will appeal to adult readers who enjoy dark romances with well-developed characters.
