Author Biography

I wrote the story about a homeless cat to draw attention to the need for these animals to be sheltered in a home environment. Outside, a cat's life can be very difficult and fraught with many dangers, which usually ends in premature death.
A cat I rescued from a shelter ran away from a friend's place where I left her when I went on vacation. Eight months later and starving, she sought human help and was identified by the tag on her collar. We were reunited. That episode scared me and left a deep impression.

Paw Prints: Bodie’s Search For Home is the story of a cat, Bodie, who finds herself in a perilous situation. Bodie is a homeless cat who lives off the food left for her by generous restaurant staff. One day, however, the food isn’t there, and Bodie embarks on a journey across town in search of food. The journey takes Bodie through many challenges, dangerous situations, a very rude crow, and awakens her predatory instincts as she attempts to hunt for food. As Bodie’s voyage continues, she comes across peril and finds herself injured as a result. However, in a possible twist of fate, Bodie meets Lily—a sweet young girl with a kind heart.

Paw Prints: Bodie's Search For Home by Ginny Stone is an excellent read for children and adults alike. The story of Bodie the cat is realistic while still containing a child-like element. I personally felt sympathy for Bodie and an appreciation for the compassion that Lily showed. Ginny Stone has masterfully added science, emotions, and good vocabulary into Paw Prints. Every student should read Paw Prints in school; they will learn a great deal about cats, survival, feeding, hunting, and compassion. Author Ginny Stone shares her knowledge about animals, kindness, and excellent vocabulary in a creative tale that is both informative and entertaining. I am very pleased to have read Paw Prints myself, and look forward to more work from Ginny Stone.
